Bieksa Out For Next Game

October 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

Yeah folks, Kevin Bieksa was in a tilt with Craig Adams in Carolina last night after Bieksa decided to light a fire under his team. For once it looked like the Canucks were getting Big Bad BXA back, and it looked to have worked. Bieksa scored a goal in Columbus the night before and was playing with a little more tenacity then we’ve been exposed to this season.

With all that being said, Bieksa is out of the lineup against Detroit. He’s headed back home to Vancouver and is questionable to rejoin the team in Washington for Friday. …

The good news is, he’s only flying back to Vancouver to be with his wife, who is expected to give birth to their first child. Congratulations to BXA!

Canucks: The Glass Is Half-Full

October 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

One win out of two contests on a four-game road trip isn’t bad, considering how the Canucks were playing on back-to-back nights.

You know, the Canucks put only nineteen pucks on net in Ohio and still scored four goals. They were held shotless for half of a game and still only surrendered one goal in the game. And, in the end, they still secured a convincing 4-1 victory. They got some timely plays from Curtis Sanford and Markus Naslund, which is something that cannot be overlooked in this contest.

So they go into North Carolina for a date with the Hurricanes and are seemingly pressured throughout the first period, forcing Luongo to shine and stop something like sixteen shots in the first period alone. Sounds like a familiar story, right? Okay, so the Canucks ended up losing 3-1 in the contest but nonetheless the game was close until the last minute when the ‘Canes scored an empty-netter. You know, I think it should be noted that playing a second game in as many nights is not easy, and I think we know that. But to also play a Carolina team that has only lost once in regulation (5-1-3) is begging for a loss.

The glass is half full, here, folks. The Canucks still have a very realistic shot at finishing this road trip over .500 and suddenly everyone is abandoning ship when they lose to a very good Carolina side? Give me a break
